Barry A Benowitz, MD F.A.C.E.

BS Northwestern University '69; MD Tufts Medical School '73; completed his residency at Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston, MA. and his Endocrine Fellowship at the Univ ers it y of U tah M edical Hospital. He is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Utah Medical School, Head of Endocrinology and Metabolism at LDS Hospital and has a private practice.

Dr. Benowitz was the medical director of the Optifast Program at LDS Hospital in the late

80's and has been the physician at Intermountain Clinical Nutrition since 1989.

Nanette Benowitz - Program Director/Behaviorist

BS degree from the University of Utah in Physical Education, with a duel minor in Special Education and Health Education.

She has been an accountant in the medical field for the last 20 years and has 16 years of counseling in behavior modification.  Nanette has been the Director of ICN since its inception in 1989.

Mary Jo McMillen- Marketing Director

Mary Jo is a licensed substance abuse counselor and has seventeen years of experience in treatment, counseling and community outreach.  Her passion is helping others to make changes so they may find the best of living life.  Her goal at ICN is to bring new patients to our program and increase awareness along the Wasatch Front that there is a solution for people who struggle with weight and obesity. 

Julie Metos, M PH, RD, CD

IDirector, Coordinated Master's Program in Dietetics (CMP), Clinical Instructor @ the University of Utah Department of Nutrition/College of Health Bachelor of Science - Foods and Nutrition from the University of Utah 1984, Master of Public Health/Nutrition, Unversity of California, Berkeley, CA 1985, Diebetic Internship, University of California Berkeley, CA 1989

Heather Filipowicz, MS, RD, CD

A native of Montana , Heather graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Performance with an emphasis in foods and nutrition from Montana State University in Bozeman , Montana . Upon completing her Bachelor’s degree Heather moved to Salt Lake City in pursuit of her Masters Degree in Nutrition, which she completed in August of 2003.

Heather is currently the lead outpatient dietitian for LDS hospital, where she works with a variety of populations including: eating disorders, weight loss, cardiovascular, cancer and diabetic patients.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys playng with her Boxer puppy Stella, being outdoors, hiking, reading, running, and returning to "Big Sky Country" (Montana) to visit her family.

Missy Orr, Exercise Trainer

Attended Idaho State University, Salt Lake Community College-BS in Exercise and Sports Science, currently enrolled at the University of Utah. She is a certified personal trainer through AFAA, NASM and APEX.

Missy works as an independant certified trainer at Planet Swell. She does personal training as well as group weight loss challenges. She is involved in the University of Utah's Exercise Sports Science Program. She has filmed two hip hop aerobics videos thorught Fitness Essentials in Logan, Utah.
